welcome the festival of lights
gleaming in these autumn nights

i miss the effusing smell
of vapors that rise
the sound of crackers
sparkling in the skies

i miss the royal feasts
the food, the tempting sweets

now that diwali is here
let all the happiness share
nothing more to do on a day
