Why ?
Five hundred soldiers, ISRO remote sensing aircraft, a Sukhoi, 14 search choppers, forest department officials, police, paramilitary forces, Chenchu tribal guides all mobilized within three hours for a missing chief minister. Then why did the Indian government take eight hours to put NSG on a plane to rescue those who were trapped in the Mumbai terrorist attacks?

Hmm.. Yesterday I listed to the Former Ambassador of India to the United Nations speak about the Mumbai and the 09/11 attacks. There were a few people in the audience who commended India on her speed and diplomacy in handling the perpetrators of the attacks.
Perhaps, these people did not know the comparison between operation rescue involving the AP Chief Minister and the operations to catch the attack perps? By the way, everybody is talking about the Mumbai attack and not so much about the attack on the Parliament on December 13, 2001!! Wonder why?
I remember that so well because it was a day before my birthday and I could not celebrate my birthday at all.
Andhra is full of rich politicians, and has a big cabinet representation...plus the life of a politician is more important in India than that of thousands of our Indian brethren.
One of the reasons as we know now is in Mumbai attack ( I am not so fond of duplicating another american context by media (9/11 !, come on isn't it enough enough copies are made of sitcoms,standup comedy ,talk shows!!) .
anyway,my point is SAR is messy in India, Tsunami
efforts were very much praised as they should be specially compared to Katrina's handling by much developed country. However its collective effort which always makes things work in India. Mumbai attack is where we needed PROCEDURAL set up which failed. a NSG with no dedicated chopper! No one woke up to this until this day shows how sleepy our bureaucrats are.
Andhra episode: 1 chopper missing, not much brains needed to react with rescources.
Mumbai episode: Multiple attack informations, chaos over "incharge operations" , Tabloid media ( yes, even PC says media can't be blamed when there is no code/request by Govt. but are we to believe Media is so naive!!? )
